What are your shipping times?

Monocoat.US ships most orders within 24 business hours when placed Monday - Friday by 2:00pm EST. All orders will be shipped within 2 business days of receiving an order.

We ship out of Georgia using UPS and the USPS. We offer multiple methods of shipment to ensure that you receive your order in a timely manner.

Orders are processed and shipped Monday-Friday, unless noted otherwise on the website. In the rare occasion that your order is unable to ship in our usual manner, you will receive a notification via email.

What payment methods can I use?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express as well as PayPal and Apple Pay.

What is your return policy?

Returns can be made 14 days from purchase. If 14 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we can’t offer you a refund or exchange. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unopened, unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.

Additional non-returnable items: - Gift cards To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase to be included with the return.

Do you offer refunds?

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund. If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days.

If an order originally qualified for Free Shipping and the returned item(s) disqualify the order for Free Shipping, your refund will include credit for the item(s) less the original cost to ship the order.

There are certain situations where only partial refunds are granted (if applicable): - Any item not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error - Any item that is returned more than 14 days after delivery

Late or missing refunds

If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again. Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted. Next, contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Do you allow exchanges?

We only replace items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email at info@monocoat.us.

Please be sure to package the product well to prevent damage during transit.

You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of shipping will be deducted from your refund.

Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary.

If you are shipping an item over $75, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We are unable to guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

Can I cancel my order?

Once your order has been fulfilled and the shipment tracking number has been created, you cannot cancel your order. If you cancel prior to fulfillment, there will be a 5% cancellation fee.

International Orders

We only ship products in the United States. Orders to Alaska and Hawaii require air shipment. If you are outside the U.S. Please visit the Rubio Monocoat website to locate a dealer.

2C Oil

Is there a clear Oil Plus 2C?

The color Pure contains no pigment. It will, however, enhance the wood's natural pigment and bring out the wood's natural beauty and slightly darken it, as any oil finish. Natural does contain a light-colored pigment.

What is the difference between Oil Plus 2C and Oil Plus Part A only?

Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C consists of 2 components. Part A and Part B. Part A is the oil and Part B is the accelerator/hardener.

When Part B is used, the cure time is just 7 days. Making it more suitable for use on floors or other surfaces that you desire a quick cure time. A shorter cure time creates less chance of spotting, scuffing, etc. Part A only is fully cured in 3 weeks

How can I add sheen to my oil finish?

Oil Plus leaves a natural, matte finish. If you desire more of a sheen added, you can apply Universal Maintenance Oil over on top of the Oil Plus 2C finished surface. This will increase the sheen level by 6-8%. Universal Maintenance Oil should not be applied to raw, unfinished wood.

Can I put a polyurethane or lacquer topcoat over an Oil Plus 2C finish?

You will need to verify with the manufacturer of the polyurethane or lacquer to ensure adhesion since Rubio Monocoat cannot guarantee other product lines.

Is Oil Plus 2C Food Safe?

Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C is ideal for application on butcher block countertops, tabletops, charcuterie boards and other surfaces where food is involved, since it has been declared safe for use on food contact surfaces by an independent testing institute.

However, it is not recommended for use on cutting boards or other boards that are used for cutting, since the oil bonds with the top microns or the wood and a knife can cut deeper than the product penetrates. Leaving the wood exposed and susceptible to mold and/or bacteria growth.

Do I need to put a topcoat over Oil Plus 2C?

No, Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus, 2C does not require a topcoat due, thanks to the molecular bonding technology. This unique technology adheres the oil to the topmost fibers of the wood. This creates a durable finish that keeps the wood’s natural look and feel, without building up plastic layers on the surface, as occurs with traditional polyurethanes.

In addition, there is no need to apply additional oil to the wood, as is necessary with traditional waxes or oils.

What types of wood can Oil Plus 2C be used on?

Rubio Oil Plus 2C can be used on all types of interior wood species. For outdoor wood, use Hybrid wood protector, or Wood Cream.

How do I know what color of Oil Plus 2C to use?

Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C is available in 55 standard colors, which can be used alone, or custom mixed to create a one-of-a-kind color. Check out our color gallery to see an example of what the color would look like. Of course, the color will look different on your particular wood, so it is important to create a sample before completing your project.

Do I have to remove the existing finish before applying Oil Plus 2C?

Oil Plus 2C needs to come in contact with raw cellulose in order to adhere to the wood fibers and work properly, so you must remove the existing finish before applying.

How many coats of Oil Plus 2C do I need to apply to my wood?

Only one coat is required. That is where the name "Monocoat" comes from. Mono=One.

Universal Maintenance Oil

How long should I wait after applying Oil Plus 2C to use Universal Maintenance Oil?

Wait until 48 hours after applying Oil Plus 2C before using Universal Maintenance Oil.

Hybrid Wood Protector

Can I use Hybrid Wood Protector for interior wood surfaces?

Hybrid Wood Protector can be used indoors, but should only be used on vertical surfaces as well as furniture. Oil Plus 2C is recommended for interior wood floors.

What temperature does it need to when I apply Hybrid Wood Protector to exterior wood?

Ideal temperature for application is 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit and not below 50°. Do not apply in direct sunlight. The weather conditions must by dry. If application was on horizontal surfaces, if rain occurs within 24-36 hours after application, rub the surface dry.

Is Part B accelerator required to use Hybrid Wood Protector?

10% Part B accelerator must be added if you are applying oil to outdoor horizontal surfaces. It also must be used on interior applications.

How long does it take for Hybrid Wood Protector to dry?

Drying time will vary due to weather conditions. Do not cover and do not place heavy objects on the wood until the wood is completely dry. If used on horizontal surfaces and rain occurs within 24-36 hours after application, the surface will need to be rubbed dry.

Does Hybrid Wood Protector protect wood from UV damage?

Using RMC technology, Hybrid Wood protector has an integrated UV* stabilizer. *Pure does not contain UV stabilizers and will not provide color stability against the natural aging and graying of exterior wood.


Can Rubio WoodCream be used on decks?

No, Rubio WoodCream is only intended for vertical wood surfaces, such as fencing, furniture siding, etc. For decks, use Hybrid Wood Protector.

Can you use WoodCream for interior woodwork?

Using Rubio WoodCream for interior applications is not recommended. It is developed especially for exterior uses.

Is WoodCream good for use on any wood species?

Rubio WoodCream is good for ALL wood species.

Does WoodCream provide UV protection?

When properly maintained, Rubio WoodCream protects against UV rays.

WoodCream Softener

Is WoodCream Softener the same as WoodCream with no pigment?

No, use the color Transparent #0 for a transparent WoodCream.

How long can I use WoodCream after mixing with WoodCream Softener (use time)?

Once mixed, WoodCream and WoodCream Softener will remain stable for multiple weeks.

Cleaning Oil Finished Floors

Can I use other manufacturers' cleaners or common retail cleaners?

Using only Rubio Monocoat Surface Care Spray or Rubio Monocoat Soap is highly recommended. Most cleaners have caustic qualities or use solvents in their formula, which may strip the protective properties of the finish.

How do I fix spots or scratches in my oil finish?

We generally recommend four products to fix spots and scratches, depending on what caused them:
  • Rubio Monocoat Surface Care Spray
  • Rubio Monocoat Refresh Eco
  • Rubio Monocoat Renew
  • applying additional Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C to scratch in finish

  • Please contact us for assistance in finding the proper method to fix spots or scratches in the finish. We'd be glad to help.

    How often should my finished wood floors be cleaned?

    Clean floors on an as-needed basis (Weekly, bimonthly, etc). This depends on the amount of use, with high-traffic floors and areas needing more regular cleaning and maintenance.

    Using Rubio Monocoat Surface Care Spray or Soap is the best practice as other cleaners may have caustic qualities or use solvents that may damage the finish or add chemicals during the cleaning process.

    How do I clean Rubio Monocoat finished/treated floors?

    Clean as you would normally clean your floors using Surface Care Spray (weekly, bimonthly, etc). Vacuuming or dry mopping with a microfiber mop is also effective in your cleaning regimen.

    Never use other cleaners, Surface Care Spray is the only cleaner you should use on your Rubio Monocoat floor.

    Precolor Easy

    Can Precolor Easy be used on an exterior application with Hybrid Wood Protector over it?

    Precolor Easy is designed exclusively for interior applications and in combination with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C finish.

    If Precolor Easy is applied and I don't want to change the color, which Oil Plus 2C should be applied?

    Pure, is non-pigmented, so that would be the recommended Oil. It will warm the wood tone slightly after applying, so keep that in min

    Can more than one application be made of Precolor Easy?

    Adding additional Precolor Easy could limit the ability of Oil Plus 2C to molecularly bond with the wood. We always recommend making a sample with a single application of Precolor Easy and finishing with Oil Plus 2C before starting any project.

    Will Precolor Easy discolor epoxy?

    Precolor Easy will most likely stain the epoxy, so we recommend applying it to the wood portion of the project only.
